In this episode of HardwareX podcasts, we talk to Dr. Matheus Carvalho who is a Senior Research Associate at the Southern Cross University in New South Wales, Australia. He is affiliated with the Centre for Coastal Biogeochemistry Research, Environmental Analysis Laboratory, and Southern Cross Analytical Research Services. His research interests have been to improve the understanding of photosynthesis and respiration by algae. In particular, he has developed, together with his colleagues Kai Schulz and Bradley Eyre, an approach to obtain new and old respiration estimates for the entire ocean. He also has a keen interest in laboratory automation. In collaboration with his colleague, Rachel Murray, he created an affordable open-source microsyringe autosampler for liquid and gas sampling.
